NASA One Memorial

IN MEMORY OF OUR BELOVED NASA ONE

FEBRUARY 9, 1996

ON APRIL 1, 1987 ED RESCUED YOU FROM THE INTERSECTION OF NASA ROAD ONE AND HIGHWAY THREE (HENCE YOUR NAME). YOU WERE IN HEAT, HAD PARASITES AND HEARTWORM. YOU ALSO HAD A FACIAL TIC AND TIC IN ONE OF YOUR FRONT PAWS, WHICH WAS PROBABLY THE RESULT OF SURVIVING DISTEMPER AS A PUPPY. YOU STOLE OUR HEARTS AND WE TRIED OUR BEST TO GIVE YOU A GOOD LIFE. YOU SURVIVED THE HEART WORM TREATMENT. YOU DEVELOPED AUTO-IMMUNE HEMOLYTIC ANEMIA SHORTLY THEREAFTER. WE THOUGHT WE WERE GOING TO LOSE YOU THEN, BUT AFTER TWO BLOOD TRANSFUSIONS AND 8 MONTHS OF MEDICATION, YOU BEAT THAT DISEASE TOO. ONE SUMMER YOU RUPTURED THE CRUCIATE OF ONE BACK LEG. A YEAR LATER YOU RUPTURED THE OTHER ONE. FINALLY YOU DEVELOPED A HEART CONDITION WHICH FINALLY TOOK YOU AWAY FROM US. BUT YOU SURVIVED EVEN THAT FOR OVER A YEAR AND A HALF WITH THE HELP OF MEDICATION.

YOU BROUGHT US SO MUCH LOVE AND JOY; YOU WERE SUCH AN INSPIRATION. WE THANK YOU. WE'LL MISS YOU TERRIBLY -- ESPECIALLY YOUR "ROO-ROO-ROO" WHEN YOU WANTED A TREAT, YOUR SOFT SILKY HAIR, THE CONSTANT WAGGING TAIL, AND YOUR FREQUENT NEED OF A BELLY RUB. WE'LL ALWAYS REMEMBER HOW YOU PROTECTED OUR PROPERTY FROM ALL THOSE JETS AND YOUR ABILITY TO MAKE US LAUGH.

GOOD-BYE, DEAR FRIEND.

LOVE,

PAULA, ED, & PATCHES (NASA's Buddy)
